I love Yogabox but there’s a culture of people leaving before savasana and bringing/using phones in the studio room that can be disruptive and frustrating as another student. She reminds you to meet your body where it’s at and if something doesn’t feel good to you, leave it behind. She offers many modifications and challenges for poses so that everyone gets what they want from the class. Her guided meditation made me tear up (in a good way). She really painted a vivid mental picture that was so calming. I will no doubt be taking more classes with Jeny!

I will say as a beginner, I probably would have benefited from mirrors on all walls as we rotated but she would move around to help keep her in our vision. I was sweaty but the mats were super grippy so I never felt like I was going to slip, but they offered full length towels (in addition to hand towels) that some laid over their mats. Music was a nice r&b lo-fi vibe to fill the silence but not be distracting. I’ll definitely return!

I think there’s a common misconception that tai chi is for older people due to its slow pace. I disagree! The movements were more challenging to hold due to the pace, and it forced me to actually be mindful about my form (as opposed to blasting through reps). Additionally, the core work and forms involved prepare you for this and other martial arts. The teacher is great and the studio was easy to find in the fitness center. Highly recommend!

It was a treadmill workout—those are known to be tough—but he kept us motivated, even getting us to sprint! I also really appreciated that he made sure we stretched before and after—which doesn’t happen at every studio. To top it off, he gave great recommendations on post-workout shakes.
